Things to Do in Cobbly Nob
Cobbly Nob Rentals is centrally located to all sorts of Smoky Mountain experiences and adventures, and a mere 20 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg and all of its shopping, restaurants, and memory-making experiences.
During the devastating wildfires last year, few communities were hit harder than Cobbly Nob. The Smoky Mountain Village, situated about 10 miles from downtown Gatlinburg and 15 miles from Pigeon Forge, was virtually burned to the ground during the horrific wildfires that captivated the nation in late 2016.
However, in true “Smoky Mountain Strong” fashion, the residents and visitors to the Cobbly Nob area have bravely soldiered on, demonstrating the resilient spirit and fierce independence that has come to characterize East Tennessee. Rather than fall victim to the fires, Cobbly Nob has persevered, coming out all the stronger. Residents and tourists alike will find plenty to do in the region, whether they are looking for adventure or relaxation.
Foxfire Mountain
For those looking for a walk on the wild side, Foxfire Mountain is the place to be. Walk the Bridge to Prosperity, the longest swinging bridge in the United States, and enjoy a lazy hike to Lost Mine Falls and along Dunn’s Creek.
Smoky Mountain Adventure Tours
Once you’ve fully experienced all that Foxfire Mountain can offer (and trust us, that will take a while), you can further explore the adventurous side of the Smokies by turning to Smoky Mountain Adventure Tours. A true off-roading experience, these folks offer UTV tours that last a full two hours, including a twilight tour that leaves the RV park approximately 1 hour prior to dark. As long as you stay safe and obey the rules of the (off)road, this is guaranteed to be some of the most fun you’ll have in the mountains.
Greenbrier
Want something a little more low-key, but still want to enjoy yourself in the Cobbly Nob area? Perhaps you should check out the Greenbrier area of the Smokies. Once a residential community, the Greenbrier Valley is situated along the Middle Fork of the Little Pigeon River and retains every bit of its rugged beauty. Now home to a ranger station and a general recreation area in the park, Greenbrier includes several hiking trails, including the Grapeyard Ridge Trail, the Ramsey Cascades Trail, the Porters Creek Trail, and the Old Settlers Trail.
Hiking
Still looking for outdoor beauty and adventure? There are plenty of hikes near Cobbly Nob Rentals as well, so you can enjoy the beauty of the Smokies and return to the comfort of your cabin in no time. Try Mount LeConte, one of the most popular and beautiful hikes in all the Smokies. Gregory Bald offers incredible views year round. Abrams Falls is another hugely popular one, especially in the summertime, when hikers can cool off in the all-natural falls. Alum Cave is another hike that’s equally appealing in both summer and wintertime.
Fishing
Maybe the thought of all this hiking and adventuring doesn’t appeal to you as much as the idea of a relaxing afternoon near a stream with a fishing pole and some cold drinks. As long as you have a rod, a reel, and a license, the Smoky Mountains offer all kinds of fishing opportunities. Check out Abrams Creek, one of the best streams in the parks with both trout and small-mouth bass fishing. Big Creek, located near I-40 at the Northeastern end of the ark, also offers trout and smallmouth fishing. Douglas Lake offers great boating as well as fishing. Hazel Creek is considered one of the best trout streams in the park, along with the Little Pigeon River.
Biking
Don’t care for fishing or hiking, but still want to experience the unparalleled beauty of the Smoky Mountains? Perhaps try a biking experience! Whether you are looking for an intense exercise session or want something a little more relaxed to enjoy with the extended family, Bike the Smokies offers several different bikes to suit any taste. Bike the Smokies is located less than half a mile from Cobbly Nob Rentals. Choose between a 7-speed bicycle or an electric bicycle, then choose your route- with assistance from one of their helpful staff, of course. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a green novice, biking the Smokies offers you an experience you simply can’t replicate from your car.
Bent Creek Golf Course
If you’re a golfer, you’re going to love it in Cobbly Nob. At the foot of Cobbly Nob Resort is Bent Creek Golf Course, designed by three-time Masters and British Open Championship Winner, Gary Player. It is a par 72 course that opened in 1972. The front nine hugs the valley floor while the back nine offers a challenging mountain course. A beautiful sparkling mountain stream meanders throughout the entire course making for a breathtaking contrast between water and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Southern Living Travel Guide rated Bent Creek Golf Course in Gatlinburg, TN one of the “Top Fifty Golf Courses in the South”.
Don’t let last year’s headlines fool you; Cobbly Nob and all of the Smoky Mountains have bravely recovered from the tragedy of last year’s wildfires, and look forward to sharing its natural beauty and sense of adventure with all visitors.
