The beauty of the Smoky Mountains has always been breathtaking for me. The scenery has yet to grow old even though I visit every year. One of my favorite pastimes while visiting the Smokies has been strolling through downtown Gatlinburg. The atmosphere can be especially exciting during special events when you bring fun into this enchanting setting. If you consider yourself to be a wine aficionado or just really enjoy it, you might want to come check out the Smoky Mountain Wine Fest.

Smoky Mountain Wine Fest

Smoky Mountain Wine FestThe wine festival weekend kicks off on Friday April 7, 2017 with a Gatlinburg wine tour that last from 6 pm to 9 pm. Then the official Gatlinburg Smoky Mountain Wine Fest will begin the next day at 1 pm. These are two separate events that you can choose to attend, but they both sound like fun to an enthusiast like me. For those that need a little more encouragement, let me give you details.

Winery Tour

Wine tours are not reserved for Napa Valley or the Italian countryside. The Smoky Mountains are home to several excellent wineries, but you don’t have to take my word for it. If you are interested in seeing local wineries for yourself, the personal wine tour provides you with transportation and a guide for three local wineries. Included in the tour will be a reception at the Courtyard by Marriott, hors d’oeuvres and a gift raffle.

Gatlinburg Wine Festival

Whether or not you come for the winery tour, the wine festival will begin on Saturday April 8, 2017 at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and will last from 1 pm until 6 pm. The Smoky Mountain Wine Fest boasted numerous delicious vintners last year including Apple Barn Winery, Cades Cove Winery, Eagle Springs Winery, Goodwater Vineyards, Hillside Winery, Mountain Valley Winery, The Winery at the Old Mill, Sugarland Cellars, Sumner Crest Winery, Tennessee Valley Winery and many others.

When you register for the wine festival, you will receive a branded wine glass and a wristband. Wine tasting samples will be given out one ounce at a time, but you can also purchase bottles of wine and merchandise from wineries all across Tennessee. Along with the wine samples there will be culinary tasting samples from Gatlinburg’s finest Chefs.

Relax and Enjoy the Smokies

I found the price for the wine fest to be quite reasonable when considering the fact that I get to experience the fun atmosphere of a festival along with delicious food and wine. The Smoky Mountain Wine Fest is a great way to celebrate spring. Let the rustic atmosphere of Gatlinburg and the spectacular views of the Smokies unwind you the way it does for me. What are you waiting for?
